Listen to some very jazzy versions of your favorite Disney songs

Are you fan of Disney music covers? Clearly, many people are. The release of Disney’s most recent song cover album, We Love Disney and before that Disneymania, has sold millions of copies and people are already asking for more.

Disney and Verve Records (the same label who help create We Love Disney) is about the release a new album called Jazz Loves Disney, a album full of your favorite Disney songs covered by today’s leading jazz artists.

Similar to the pop sound and artists that brought new meaning and interpretation to songs like Ne-Yo’s “Friend Like Me” and Jessie J’s “Part of Your World”, this album fuses traditional jazz sound recorded by the likes of vocalist Gregory Porter performing “When You Wish Upon A Star” (my personal favorite!) and pianist Jamie Cullum’s version of “Everybody Wants To Be A Cat”.

So why do a jazz album of Disney songs? It has less to do with popularity of the genre and more to do with Disney history. “Walt Disney loved jazz and paid great attention to the writing of the music accompanying his heroes adventures,” it said in the release. That love of jazz flew right down to some of Walt’s films and theme park attractions.

It was this influence that inspired many of the artists who recorded on the Jazz Loves Disney album to take part and give their tribute to Walt in their songs. Even if you aren’t a big jazz fan, you’ll come to appreciate the soft an wild tunes that Walt and these artist love – especially if they’re all familiar Disney tunes!

The full album will be available on November 18, but is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon. The full track list is below:
