Add magic to your home this season with this D.I.Y. Mickey Mouse wreath
I am personally not one who loves winter because I don’t cope well with cold weather, but what I do love about this time of year are the merry and bright holiday cheer that comes with it — hot chocolate, peppermint ice cream, fuzzy socks, holiday movies, and of course, Christmas décor among some.
Recently, I paid a visit to the Disneyland Resort to admire the park’s decorations and offerings as it changed from Fall to Winter. Upon gazing at the hundreds of beautifutl ornaments, one that looked like a Mickey-shaped wreath caught my eye, but deep inside I wished it was big enough for a door. Cue light bulb moment!
Thus, I was inspired to create a similar one that I’d love to share with all of you. With minimal materials and steps, here’s how you can make your own do-it-yourself Mickey wreath!
∗∗∗
Materials You Will Need:
2 6-inch Floral/Craft Rings
1 12-inch Floral/Craft Ring (preferably one with holes)
Floral Wire
Green Felt (cut enough holly-shaped leaves to cover rings — I used about ~100 leaves)
Scissors
Glue Gun & Refills
Bow
7 Large Red Buttons
14 Small Red Buttons
Wreath Hanger
Step 1: Secure small and large floral/craft rings with floral wire to form a Mickey shape.
Step 2: Glue holly leaves on the inner rims of floral/craft rings.
Step 3: Glue holly leaves on the outer rims of floral/craft rings, making sure that none of the floral wire is visible.
Step 4: Add the final touches by gluing down a bow and buttons.
And that’s it! Your Mickey wreath is now ready to hang this holiday season. So simple and easy that anyone can put together a wreath that will surely last for many seasons to come. If you’d like to take it one step further, feel free to add pine scents to the wreath. Until then, happy holidays from our DisneyExaminer family to yours.
