Marvel is developing a comic book series based on the Haunted Mansion ride

Have you ever wondered about the backstory behind the 999 happy haunts that lurk the Haunted Mansion halls? Well, Marvel has just announced that they will be releasing a new series about the attraction in their Disney Kingdoms comic book line! In the past they have released comic books based on other attractions like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Epcot’s Journey Into Imagination. The mission of this comic series is to expand and explore the universe of these attractions!
The writer that will be heading the Haunted Mansion series is Joshua Williamson, along with Jorge Coelho as the illustrator. The official title of the comic book will be The Haunted Mansion #1 as part of a five-part series. The comic book series will focus on the 999 happy haunts, including the Hat Box Ghost and Madame Leota! Williamson explains about the series in an interview with EW:
One thing that Marvel and I have talked about a little bit is making sure there’s really a horror aspect…there are silly parts of the attraction, but we wanted to make sure there was horror there, which is not something I’ve done a lot with my other books.
