Monster Music.

In just a few weeks, Mike and Sulley will bring us back to college as we see them in college for this Pixar prequel. As we’re sure that this movie will keep to its promise and set up how Mike and Sulley became best friends, we feel that we too will also be looking back to our past life experiences as well with the help of the movie AND the music.

The score to “Monsters University” has been recorded and put into the movie with the leadership of a Pixar veteran himself Randy Newman. Known for his other Pixar hits like “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” from “Toy Story,” Newman returns for his seventh Pixar film project that will bring us all back to college with drum lines and rock music. And even a real Alma Mater!

The score features a 112-piece orchestra as well as featured artists including Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso of the band Swedish House Mafia, heavy Metal rockers Mastodon, renowned drum line The Blue Devils, and even the voices of the staff at Pixar studios in Canada!

In addition to the “monstrous” lineup for the Monsters U soundtrack, the Pixar short that will precede it called “The Blue Umbrella” will feature music by composer John Brion (“Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”) who hopes the music will make you think of “a love song about rain.”

The whole soundtrack will be available on June 18 – three days before the movie comes out. Will you be buying it to get into the college mindset? Comment!
