“Monsters at Work” is a hi-larious addition to the Monstropolis world

It has been nearly a decade since we last visited Monstropolis where Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan live and work.

And speaking of work, it just so happens to be the time where a new Disney+ series has debuted to see them do exactly just that.

“Monsters At Work” picks up directly after where the original “Monsters Inc.” movie left us, where Scare Floors became Laugh Floors and Mike and Sully take the reins of the power plant operations. But instead of telling more of their story, showrunner Bobs Gannaway (Disney’s “Planes”) decided to tell a new story with new characters who work in a new part of the plant.

The main character is a new one, too, in the form of Tylor Tuskmon, who recently graduated from Monsters University’s Scarer Program – at the exact time scaring is out and laughing is in. He quickly realizes that his lifelong goal of being a Scarer needs to be let go and a new skill of being a Jokester needs to shape. It’s a very coming-of-age arc that anchors at least the first two episodes of the story in a deep emotion.

However, the emotion will only lead to laughter, especially with the help of the new Monsters Inc. team he gets assigned to – MIFT. It stands for Monsters Inc. Facilities Team, and it so happens to be home to probably the funniest monsters the factory has – namely Banana Bread.

And if that name doesn’t get you laughing already, I don’t know what will. In the two episodes that are already now streaming on Disney+, it’s such a great addition to the stories of Monstropolis. “Monsters At Work” not only adds to the story and retains the already-loved and familiar characters and settings, but connects it all to a new story and new monsters that are equally entertaining as well for any age, working or not.

“It’s laughter we’re after,” as they say.

Monsters At Work is now streaming exclusively on Disney+ with new episodes airing every Wednesday!
