Nothing But Blue Sky (concluded)
If you were like us, watching the new Disney California Adventure come to life before your eyes was something that took a lot of patience, but brought a lot of admiration.
What made the grand re-opening of DCA so meaningful to us and a lot of other people was the mere fact that for the past 5 years, we saw this place change tremendously! From new attractions to new eateries, the construction process culminated on one big day of celebration.
Most of those changes were captured and presented to us when walking into the “Blue Sky Cellar,” DCA’s Preview Center right outside the entrance of Cars Land. Inside the center, guests like you and me were able to view the “blue sky” process of Imagineering – the let-ideas-fly process in creating new experiences for guests. It was really cool to see all the ideas come together in many artifacts to videos.
Above, you’ll see a video detailing the Imagineering process of Cars Land and hopefully it will give you more understanding and appreciation to the making of the Land, but also the time it took to make it GOOD.
You can also find another video detailing the creation of Buena Vista Street which can be found HERE. It’s really amazing to see how much thought and detail went into a something as mere at an entryway into a theme park.
The Blue Sky Cellar is still open to guests. It is now serving as a museum dedicated to the story of town of Radiator Springs! If you want to know how the town first came about, that’s your place to go.

These were the same videos that played inside the Blue Sky Cellar prior to Cars Land and Buena Vista Street’s opening on June 15.
