Over $500,000 was raised for charity just for riding a carousel at Disneyland.
There are all sorts of fundraisers out there. They range from the traditional ones like auctions to the less traditional ones like the one that was held at Disneyland just last week.
Before the park opened to the public, forty-one children headed straight for King Arthur’s Carousel in Fantasyland to once again take part in the Carousel of Possible Dreams fundraiser. For each ride around the carousel, each child from a local charity earned funds for their respective charities.
“Some of them (the children) got sponsored for rides on the carousel, some of them got direct donations,” said Sandy Segerstrom Daniels, founder and executive director of the Festival of Children Foundation to the OC Register. According to their website, the Festival of the Children Foundation exists to “help our charities’ dreams change lives today and create a better future for children and families… and their projects aka the Possible Dreams.
At the end of all the spinning, the children raised over $500,000 in total, beating last year’s fundraising event that also took place at Disneyland.
Take a look at the event with the video above from OC Register videographer Mark Eades.
Congrats to all the kids who “merrily” spun their way around for a magical and noble cause!
