Passing Windows.

It’s something we do all the time when we go to Disneyland. It’s something you pass by as you enter and leave. It’s not really noticeable, but they sure have stories to tell and we hope to tell those stories now.

The thing we’re talking about is walking down Main Street USA and passing the various windows that line the length of the street. They vary in shape, design, and placement, but they all have something in common – people.

If you did not know, the names that you see inscribed on the windows are actual people that have contributed their lives in extending the magic at the Disneyland Resort. Think of it as a lifetime achievement award, only being given to Cast Members that are deserving of the highest honor that Disneyland can give.

We had the opportunity to participate in one unveiling ceremony of one of those windows given most recently to Disney Legend and Imagineer Alice Davis. It’s truly a personal and heartfelt ceremony and honor folks. If you really have the time, be sure to take a look at each window the next time you’re on Main Street. Fortunately, we’ll be able to share the stories behind them with videos!

Take a look at the video above and get to see the story into the first in a series of windows and people that Disneyland Park Vice President Jon Storbeck will share with us in the coming weeks.

UPDATE – Jon recently released his second story about another Main Street USA window that was dedicated the Disney Legend and Imagineer Marty Sklar back in 2009. Marty was with the Walt Disney Company who worked with Walt Disney himself and was responsible for many Disney Parks’ experiences and attractions. See his window dedication ceremony and story here.
