Pixar says no more sequels for a while after 2019

Are you a fan of sequels? Then you won’t be happy to hear that a big studio won’t be releasing them after 2019.

Pixar Animation Studios president Jim Morris shared with Entertainment Weekly that the studio currently has new stories planned after 2019. How many films will that be exactly?

According to SlashFilm, Pixar has a 5 to 6 year development schedule, so that could only be just about 10-12 films. Aside from “The Good Dinosaur” and “Brave”, Pixar has been pretty good at telling stories that aren’t just fresh, but make every effort to make every audience member emotionally invested. The latest original story from the studio, “Inside Out”, took home nearly every award that involved screenwriting.

Still if you aren’t a fan of sequels, you can look forward to the ones that Pixar currently has in development. Cars 3 is slated for 2017, Toy Story 4 is scheduled for 2018, and The Incredibles 2 will debut in 2019 – the last sequel before Pixar once again has the chance to capture the world’s attention with unique, emotional stories.
