Say “Wingapo” to Fall Fashion!

Fall is here! The wind is breezing by and the warm-colored, fallen leaves are being swept up along for the ride. This season inspires me to paint with all the colors of the wind and pull my fashion inspiration from one of my favorite princesses…Pocahontas!

Here are some Pocahontas-inspired outfits to help you cozy on up to the fall season.

Note: These are my personal inspired looks. Feel free to express your own version of being a natural beauty like Pocahontas!

Pocahontas wore earthy/natural colors. I did that as well and stuck to a more neutral palette. I wore a statement necklace that resembled the necklace Pocahontas wore. The shirt was inspired by the fringe that lined and detailed the neckline of Pocahontas’ dress.

Pocahontas Inspired

I call this look, “ Pocahontas meets John Smith.” I took a lot of elements from John Smith’s outfit by pairing denim on denim and layered it with my brown suede jacket. I tied my outfit together by wearing brown mule heels. The cool colors from John Smith’s outfit paired well with the warm colors of Pocahontas.

I wanted to channel my inner Pocahontas and be “natural” with these looks. The first idea that popped into my mind of attaining this “au naturale” look was to NOT wear makeup. So I decided that I would not wear any type of makeup or photoshop any part of my face for these photos. I even one-upped myself by not putting on my contacts! I’m as blind as a bat, have blemishes, pimples, and untrimmed eyebrows. The epitome of attractive, right??

In all seriousness, I’ve come to realize how much I can rely on the self-gratification I feel whenever I cover my imperfections with concealer. I’ve made myself believe that I can only “look good” when I put my face on. No…I’m not saying that makeup is bad, nor am I putting down those who decide to use it… in all honesty, I know I’m still going to use makeup (makeup is fun!).

Just the fact that you still CAN be and ARE beautiful without it all is what people should know. It’s a liberating feeling when you’re completely confident in the skin, face, and body that you naturally have… flaws and all. Love and accept yourself for who you are! Embrace what is beautiful!

For whether we are white or copper skinned

We need to sing with all the voice of the mountains

We need to paint with all the colors of the wind.
