See Walt Disney World’s version of World of Color: Rivers of Light

Since 2010, World of Color has been a favorite nighttime spectacular that gives those in Disney California Adventure Park their own “fireworks” ending of a night. Blending water, light, and music together had already been done with Fantasmic! at Disneyland Park, but never at this scale.

And starting April 22, World of Color will get an East Coast version, but with its own unique story.

Rivers of Light is a new nighttime spectacular created by Walt Disney Imagineering for the multi-million dollar expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort. The expansion, including the show, will be a part of the nighttime offerings that will be a first for a Disney Park that has since closed with the sunset.

According to creators, the show will tell a visual story lead by two storytellers who “call forth four animal Spirit Guides: an Asian Tiger, Tropical Turtle, African Elephant and Great Horned Owl.” The Guides will appear throughout the show telling their tales as they journey through their “Rivers of Light”.

The technology powering the show is very similar to World of Color, but will be unique compared to its California twin. Imagineers hope that the new effects and other special touches will make Rivers of Light a memorable experience for all who watch.

Just like World of Color did over 5 years ago.
