Somebody made a real Pizza Planet truck and drove it to Pixar
For those who were at the D23 Expo last August, one of the most unique things that were on the show floor was the Pizza Planet truck from the Toy Story films.
It was built by some very passionate and detail-oriented pop culture fans back in 2011 over a few months. They watched the Pixar films as their source material to ensure that every detail of the truck was recreated in real life. Once the “Yo” truck was done, they eventually drove the truck to Pixar HQ in Emeryville, California for a surprise visit.
Some of Pixar’s finest came out of their offices and dropped their work to come out and see the truck which drove right up near the campus’ very large Luxo sculpture. The moment gets particularly real for some of those animators who worked to create the animated truck.
Watch the 12-minute documentary showing the making-of process and the Pixar visit above. You can also visit the Pizza Planet Truck’s website to see if the it’ll be making deliveries in your area soon!
