Special surprises and adult only beaches – how the Disney Cruise Line caters to grown-ups
If you’ve been keeping up with DisneyExaminer lately you’ve probably heard a lot about Karen and Ted, the first couple to set the record by going on 100 Disney Cruises (and still going strong!)
Karen and Ted have already given us great advice about Disney Cruises, but many readers still wonder – would a Disney Cruise be right for me, an adult? Can I enjoy the cruise if I don’t have any kids?
The short answer – yes!
During our conversations Karen and Ted repeated over and over how wonderful Disney Cruises are for both kids and adults. Read their comments below to hear more about how the Disney Cruise Line caters to even its more mature Disney fans. [Answers edited for clarity and length]
The DCL Crew goes above and beyond for adult guests
The Disney Cruise Line crew is always going over and above to think of ways to make the guests laugh and smile as they did for us with a surprise on our bed for our 100th cruise.
Be sure to utilize the great Disney Cruise Line reservation/vacation planner teams for all your questions before you sail. These cast members have booked all our 100 cruises and answered so many of our questions. They are all very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and extremely patient. The team at the ship terminal are always so welcoming and helpful and they will assist you with the completion of your cruise documents if you need help…and don’t forget your passport!
Do not be concerned which of the 4 ships, Magic, Wonder, Dream or Fantasy is the best one to sail on. They are all unique and have something different to offer… size, decor, shows, activities, etc., and the wonderful crew will ensure you enjoy your cruise on whichever ship you choose. We enjoy each ship so much and missed all the crew that in 2014 we sailed on all 4 ships in just one month, staying in a hotel one night between ships waiting for the next ship to arrive, and flying to Miami to catch the Wonder for our last ship visit. The packing and unpacking was crazy but so worth the amazing experience.
Disney cruises offer adult entertainment
When guests view the Disney excursions available for their cruise, on many of the cruises there will be an option for an Adult only excursion and the same excursion usually will be available for family with kids. There may not be that option on every sailing but Disney is always improving on offering many more of those adult only excursions. So you are correct that adult only excursions is an option on many cruises.
Do not miss the entertainer Taylor Mason if he is on your cruise. Taylor is a ventriloquist with a variety of puppets. Adults cruising without kids may think this show sounds like it is just for kids and decide to skip it. But we suggest you don’t miss it. Taylor has been an entertainer on the Disney ships for many years and is a guest favorite. He involves the guests, kids and adults, in his show. His special talent has the guests smiling and laughing throughout the show…especially the adults!
The pictures with Capt Jack are on Disney’s Castaway Cay private island. It was a lot fun and a great memory! And…it was on the adult only beach Serenity Bay! You would have thought he would only visit the family beach for kids. Disney Cruise Line always has planned activities and fun for adults too! It’s just nice that DCL thinks about adults when they think of surprises/activities on and off the ship, and not just for the kids.
Disney cruises are for guests of all ages
You do not have to have children to enjoy a Disney cruise. The ships have many adult only areas, restaurant, lounges, etc., for adults to enjoy…
We do not have any children and have enjoyed every one of our Disney cruises. The majority of the kids are in the kids clubs during the cruise, so don’t be afraid if you cruise without children that you will be bombarded by a ship full of kids! If you do have children, Disney Cruise Line does such an amazing job with their programs for kids that when you come home your kids will be asking you “when can we go back”…so beware when taking that first Disney cruise.
