“Spider-Man: Homecoming” isn’t a Disney movie, but that’s what makes this great

Just a few minutes ago, we got the first glimpse of the highly anticipated Spider-Man reboot film. Watch it above – we won’t spoil it for you.

While “Spider-Man: Homecoming” isn’t a Disney-branded film, it was the workings of a deal between Disney/Marvel and Sony Pictures. The results of that deal were Spider-Man, this time played by Tom Holland, being featured in Disney/Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” and now Sony Pictures’ rebooted film called “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

From the footage we saw, we agree that we feel that it very much feels like it was made by the Marvel think tank at Disney. And while that’s partially true with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige producing the film for Sony, the merit should go toward Sony for allowing people like Feige who are on Disney’s payroll to tell a solid Marvel comic book story.

The film, also starring Disney Channel alum Zendaya, will swing into theaters on July 7, 2017.
