“Star Wars: Episode VII” Script Completed + Casting + Filming News

During a panel television panel over the weekend, sci-fi director J.J. Abrams confirmed that the “Star Wars: Episode VII” script has been completed. “We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep,” Abrams said.

In addition to the script’s completion, Abrams also gave news about a possible casting choice. Abrams disclosed that he has been talking to actor Jesse Plemons, who most recently had a role in the AMC series “Breaking Bad”. No news on the specifics of the role were given, but Abrams did say that he’s excited to be directly talking to an actor for roles instead of going through their agents.

Abrams also did confirm a rumor about the camera he’ll use for the filming. He will be using a film camera because of its size and reliability. “The problem with IMAX is that it’s a very loud camera. It’s a very unreliable camera. You can’t do intimate scenes with it…” He did say that improvements are being made to IMAX camera technology, but did also say that he’ll consider shooting IMAX when those problems are addressed.

Filming for Episode 7 is scheduled to begin in May.
