Stop whatever you’re doing and have a Tinker Bell marathon

When I was a child Tinker Bell was never a Disney character that I was obsessed with or loved. To tell you the truth, I actually didn’t like Tinker Bell in Peter Pan (1953). I thought she was a bit of a brat, and I was #TEAMWENDY. She also didn’t speak, which also didn’t make her very appealing to me. So when I first saw Tinker Bell (2008) streaming on Netflix I didn’t really think anything of it. Then one day, when I didn’t want to study for a final, I decided to watch the movie, and after watching it I was hooked (pun intended).

Now, at 23-years-old, there is nothing I want more than to dress up as a fairy for Halloween this year. I actually wouldn’t mind dressing up as Gruff the more I think about it! Let me tell you about the six movies in the Tinker Bell film series, and then you can decide whether you think having a marathon is a great idea or an AWESOME idea.

This movie really sets a great tone for the Tinker Bell film series. Not only is the animation beautiful to look at, the world of Pixie Hallow and the characters are simply amazing. This movie tells the origins of Tinker Bell, and how she has the talent for tinkering (fixing things), but wants to have a more “important” talent. She then goes throughout Pixie Hallow to have fairies of different talents teach her something other than tinkering. Throughout this movie Tinker Bell tries to find out where she truly fits in.

Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure

Two things make this movie adorable: Tinker Bell’s outfit and a firefly named Blaze. The movie revolves around Tinker Bell setting off on a journey to find another mystical moonstone after the original one gets shattered. She and Blaze go through a couple of challenges to find this rare stone. This film really highlights Tinker Bell’s short temper, and shows how she deals with it. We see how she makes mistakes, and tries to do the right thing in the end.

Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue

I’m not going to lie. I thought that I was going to hate this film when I found out that Tinker Bell couldn’t actually speak when she was with a human. In Peter Pan I didn’t like how Tinker Bell only jingled, so when I saw the little girl talk to Tinker Bell and she responded with a bell sound I just sighed heavily with disappointment. But as the movie progressed I didn’t mind it so much. The plot of this story is how Tinker Bell gets stuck in the house of a little girl named Lizzy. As it rains outside, Tinker Bell’s fairy friends from Pixie Hallow try to make it across the field to rescue her. As Tinker Bell spends time with Lizzy they befriend each other, and try to help each other out in the most creative ways.

This is one of my favorite movies out of all the films in the franchise. It’s basically a combination of The Parent Trap and Frozen. Tinker Bell finds out that she has a twin sister named Periwinkle who lives in the Winter Woods. The sisters get to know each other and try to find ways to integrate each other in their polar opposite worlds. I convinced my older sister to watch this movie with me and we both loved it! This is a great film to watch with your siblings, but it’s also just a great film to see in general.

The Pirate Fairy

What I loved about The Pirate Fairy was how action-packed it was. This movie had it all: stolen pixie dust, sword battles, pirates, and Tom Hiddleston! If that didn’t convince you to watch this film then let me tell you a quick summary of this epic movie. The movie tells the story of a pixie-dust keeper fairy named Zarina. After causing a major disaster in Pixie Hallow with an experiment gone wrong, she runs away and joins a ship full of pirates. Going over to the dark side, Zarina and the pirate crew hatch up a plan to steal pixie dust! Can Tinker Bell and her friends stop Zarina and her evil allies? Watch The Pirate Fairy to find out what happens!

Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast

This is my #1 pick out of all the movies! If you are an animal lover you need to watch this film ASAP! The film centers around an animal talent fairy named Fawn. She loves taking care of animals, both cute and dangerous. She then stumbles upon a Neverbeast that she names Gruff. As the other fairies search for this dangerous mythical creature, Fawn learns more about him and the two form a very close bond. This film made me laugh and cry my eyes out. It’s one of those films that just make you feel a whole range of emotions. YOU NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Buy, rent, or stream these films on Netflix! I swear they are worth watching! As a grown adult I can honestly say that these movies have taught me so much. I can now say that I am #TEAMTINK. Yes, these films are meant for children, but aren’t we all just children at heart? Whether it is alone or with other people, you need to watch the Tinker Bell film series. You won’t regret it!
