Get ready for more frying pans, lanterns and smolders!

Following the success of the 2010 animated film Tangled, the long and magical-haired princess Rapunzel, her color-changing chameleon Pascal, and other familiar characters will be back on the screens and debut on a new animated series on the Disney Channel in 2017.

Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi, who voice Rapunzel and Eugene (a.ka. Flynn Rider), have been confirmed to reprise their roles. Alongside of the couple, the show will feature the horse Maximus, the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs, and a new character Cassandra,  who is described as “a strong-willed handmaiden” who serves as Rapunzel’s confidant. Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater, who created the music for the original film will also return and join the production to showcase all-new songs for the series.

The new show is set to take place between the events of the movie and the 2012 short film Tangled Ever After. Rapunzel will get to know her parents, her kingdom and citizens of Corona.

According to Disney’s press release,

Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity about the world drives her to the realization that there is so much more she needs to learn before she can truly accept her royal destiny. She boldly puts her crown and impending marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures, much to the dismay of the King who, after missing out on Rapunzel’s youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent young woman.

Tangled grossed $593 million globally, and Tangled Ever After received 5 million viewers.
