World of Color is a nighttime spectacular that has captivated audiences for a little over five years. As the years went by, guests would see new segments to promote upcoming movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Brave. They would also be entertained by very special Christmas versions of show. The newest version of World of Color premiered during Disneyland’s 60th Diamond Anniversary and let’s just say it’s a whole new world…of color!

The original World of Color was a symphony of music with an iridescent water show that perfectly synced with scenes from animated Disney movies. Not to say that the new World of Color doesn’t do the same, but it doesn’t have the same affect I felt when I first watched the original. World of Color Celebrate! showcases the man who made dreams comes true, Mr. Walt Disney himself. He was an inspiration to the world, and this version of World of Color was dedicated to his achievements. Let’s do a quick break down of each version!

World Of Color

• The opening of the show catches your attention with the original World of Color music that you can’t help but dance to.

• We are taken through the worlds of different movies like The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Fantasia, Wall-E, Toy Story, Up, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Lion King and many more. Each scene perfectly matches the water show, and seamlessly flows into the next movie segment. A perfect example of this would be the end of the Wall-E As we see Wall-E spray the fire extinguisher, each puff turns into a cloud that beautifully transitions into the Toy Story scene.

• The finale of the show picks up from the very emotional “So Close” segment, which gives guests one more magical moment of pure fantasy.

World of Color – Celebrate!

• The show’s opening has Neil Patrick Harris singing an original tune that segways into describing Walt Disney’s achievements, including the creation of Mickey Mouse.

• Scenes from Mickey’s animated shorts, as well as feature films are shown as The Mickey Mouse Club theme song starts to play.

• We are taken through various movies with scenes from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Finding Nemo, Tangled, Princess and the Frog, Toy Story, Bambi, and many more. Cue the “Let it Go” scene!

• After the montage of different movies we transition into the Disneyland segment, showing attractions like the Tiki Room, Splash Mountain, Cars Land, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, It’s A Small World, and Star Tours, ending the section with a clip from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

• The finale shows a compilation of Walt’s achievements, as well as clips from the Disney theme parks around the world with Christina Perri’s rendition of “Forever Young” playing in the background.

Each version of the show has different segments to show that World of Color Celebrate! is not just a sequel but a new show on its own! We decided to see how the fans reacted to the new World of Color and this is what they had to say.

Whether you love the original or new version of World of Color they both have a story to tell. The original being about dreams coming true and the new version being about the man who made those dreams come true. While I favor the old one more than the new one I can see why World of Color Celebrate! – The Wonderful World of Walt Disney is the perfect version to be shown during the 60th anniversary Diamond Celebration.
