The perfect holiday treat pairing at the Disneyland Resort
Here’s the scenario: You’re walking down Main Street, snuggled in your best winter clothes, and admiring the sights and sounds of the Christmas lights and decorations. You know what would complete this picture? A drink and snack in hand–of the holiday variety of course.
This holiday season, the Disneyland Resort has a plethora of specialty food offerings. From my recent trips to the parks and hotels in the resort, two heart-warming offerings stand out and they go perfectly together!
Mickey-Shaped Candy Cane Beignets
The latest spin on beignets since the Pumpkin Spice Beignets offered during Disneyland’s Halloween Time. These beignets shaped into your favorite anthropomorphic mouse are dusted with peppermint-flavored powdered sugar. The menthol flavor is very subtle and doesn’t overpower the sweetness of the sugar. They can be found at the Mint Julep Bar across from the New Orleans Square Train Station and adjacent to the French Market. Eating them reminds me of a classroom tradition in grade school where we would leave our shoes outside our classroom. We would listen for Santa’s bells to ring in the hallways and when the noise subsided, we’d find a present in our shoes–candy canes!
Hot Rum Chocolate
Get ready to get chocolate wasted! Literally. This hot chocolate consists of alcohol, namely Rumchata. Personally, I was never a fan of dairy mixed with alcohol, but this drink made me a believer. Drinking this made all my worries go away about the often very stressful holiday season. This drink is available at the lobby of the Grand Californian Hotel. You can sit on a rocking chair by the fireplace, admire the Christmas tree dominating the lobby floor, and listen to the live Christmas carolers singing your favorite tunes. Don’t forget to bring your family-size candy cane beignets with you. (If you’re not up for alcohol, the stand in the lobby also serves regular hot chocolate as well as peppermint hot chocolate to get you in the Christmas spirits!)
