The singing voice of two Disney princesses is having a concert in Southern California

Did you know that certain Disney princesses have two sources for their voices? One women provides the acting voice and the other provides the singing voice.

Out of the two Disney princesses who have two voices, there’s one women who has given the singing voice to both of them – Lea Salonga.

A native of the Philippines, she is an award-winning vocalist who stole the ears and hearts of people around the world since an early age. She started her career at 18 on Broadway in Miss Saigon, then went on to take another lead role in Les Misérables.

Even with her stage musical achievements, most people will probably know her as the singing voice of Jasmine from Disney’s Aladdin in 1992 and Fa Mulan in Disney’s Mulan in 1998. Her voice seemed to perfectly fit her acting voice counterparts, but stood out with deep emotion through her controlled Soprano voice that only aided us in believing the princess on screen.

Since then, Salonga’s fame has only grown, but the magic of voicing a princess has followed her every step of the way. In 2008, she took on the role of Cinderella in the Rogers and Hammerstein production tour in Asia. Disney fans who attended the 2011 D23 Expo in Anaheim, CA would have also remembered Salonga’s performance alongside her fellow voice actresses who gave the other Disney princesses their voices.

For those who didn’t make it to the Expo or haven’t heard her sing live before, it’s certainly an opportunity not to miss. And if you live in Southern California, that magical opportunity has come!

Salonga will return to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa for a one-night-only concert on Saturday, April 2 at 8 PM.

She’ll be performing many of her hits from her Broadway days, as well as her Disney classics with a four-piece band in the acoustically magnificent Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

Tickets start at $39 and are now available online or in person at the Segerstrom Center Box Office.
