Watch the original singing voices of ‘Aladdin’ perform “A Whole New World” for the first time in a long time
Disney’s “Aladdin” will be celebrating its 25th anniversary not too long from now, but the celebrations have already begun with the re-release of the animated classic on Blu-ray featuring some never-before-seen extras.
All those celebrations couldn’t have prepared us for what happened on ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) just last Friday. That’s where Lea Salonga and Brad Kane, the original singing voices of Jasmine and Aladdin respectively, performed “A Whole New World” accompanied by the song’s acclaimed writer Alan Menken.
Aladdin directors Ron Clements and John Musker, the voice actors of Aladdin and Jasmine – Scott Weinger and Linda Larkin, as well as the voice actor of Jafar Jonathan Freeman were also on hand to join in on this special moment.
The pair have rarely publicly performed the song together. The last time was for the 65th Academy Awards back in 1993 where the song took home an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Enjoy their full GMA performance in the video above and be taken to that whole new world once more.
