While the Marvel’s film universe expands, don’t forget about its new TV shows

Marvel is on a roll.

Last night’s Doctor Strange teaser trailer release later this year and the impending release of Captain America: Civil War in just a few weeks means that the Marvel movie world is only getting bigger. While much of the attention is toward the films, one shouldn’t forget the TV universe that’s building up, too.

In addition to Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” and “Agent Carter” on ABC and Marvel’s “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones” on Netflix, we can look forward to the addition of two more Marvel TV series.

Marvel’s Most Wanted is a spinoff of S.H.I.E.L.D. and follows former agents Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) as they begin to live out their lives after being disavowed by the secret agency. Little do they know that they are still in danger and must work with a mysterious figure in order to guarantee their protection. No release date has been announced for the series yet, but a pilot episode has been ordered by ABC.

Marvel’s Luke Cage will tell the story of a former convict who has superhuman strength and unbreakable skin. With his abilities, he decides to fight crime in the pursuit of good in his hometown of Harlem, New York while battling his past foes. Cage will be played by Mike Colter who was already seen in his role on Jessica Jones. The series is set to debut on Netflix on September 30.

Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger are two more Marvel characters that will be getting their own show. Introduced as a inter-racial couple in the Marvel comics, the show will reimagine them as teenagers who love each other and must learn to deal with their powers. Cloak can teleport and go through things and Dagger can created “daggers of light” that can heal people. Sounds for an exciting TV series to air on Freeform (formerly ABC family) sometime in the next year.

These three series will take place inside Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and have the potential to enter the Avengers film franchise. The Netflix Marvel characters, however, will join together in the already announced Defenders miniseries on Netflix.

And it’s probably worth noting that there are even more TV series that Marvel is developing! While they haven’t been formerly announced because they still remain concepts, we can probably look forward to a Marvel comedy and more in the near future.

UPDATE 4/29/16: Marvel has announced the making of a Netflix TV series surrounding The Punisher! He’ll be played by Jon Bernthal who played Frank Castle in the “Daredevil” Netflix series.
