You can now play Disney Infinity on Apple TV.

During Apple’s last keynote presentation, executives briefly mentioned that Apple TV would soon get the capabilities to play Disney Infinity. Today, those capabilities have come with the release of the hardware needed to play it.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition for Apple TV and its Starter Pack includes the SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Controller and a black Bluetooth Disney Infinity Base that hooks up wirelessly to Apple’s newest TV device to play the game. Additionally, the Starter Pack will include a few Star Wars game pieces that make 3.0 what it is: Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set piece and Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figures.

The good thing about the Apple TV version of the game is that it offers the full experience you were to get if you played on a game system like PlayStation or Xbox. That means all the 3.0 Play Sets, figures, and Toy Box expansions are compatible. Legacy gamers who have items from 1.0 and 2.0 are also compatible with the Apple TV version.

So why expand to include Apple TV as a Disney Infinity play system? To just get more people playing the game. “Apple TV represents an incredible opportunity for us to bring Disney Infinity to a new audience of players who may not have a game console in their household,” said John Blackburn, SVP and GM, Disney Infinity. “We’re offering the complete Disney Infinity 3.0 experience on this device, optimized for Apple TV, and we’re already planning new Disney Infinity experiences for the App Store.”

That desire to bring Disney Infinity to all gamers seems to be in full force with even the most recent past releases like the Disney Infinity 3.0 Toy Box app for mobile devices (iOS, Android) made available this past September. With the Apple TV release, it won’t be long before nobody will have an excuse to not play Disney’s flagship video game.

Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition for Apple TV is available for $99.99 at Apple Retail Stores.
