WonderGround Gallery Opens June 9 at the Downtown Disney District!

We’re particularly excited to see this new art gallery open in the Downtown Disney District in California.

As we’ve said in our previous post announcing the concept, the WonderGround Gallery will bring a more modern touch to your favorite Disney memories that you see both in the Parks, as well as in the movies and animated shows.

Local artists will contribute to the gallery with their pieces like the ones shown above available for purchase beginning June 9 when the Gallery opens to the public!

Hipster Mickey, anyone? Yes. That’s us at DisneyExaminer.

BREAKING NEWS - Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop Opening June 7 in Disney California Adventure!

In other news besides all the Cars Land and Buena Vista Street happenings, you may or may not have known that Disney California Adventure will also be housing another famous retailer. In addition to having Starbucks location, DCA will now also have a Ghiradelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop!

The famous San Francisco-based chocolate manufacturer and retailer will put another one of their flagship stores inside the former Mission Tortilla Factory building near Paradise Pier.

As you can see in the photos above, all crews really did on the outside was add blue awnings and Ghiradelli signage. It’s what is inside that is getting us excited. Chocolate desserts of all kinds will be sold for your enjoyment.

Unfortunately, our previous post said that the location would open on Tuesday, June 5, but Disney decided to change the date to allow executives from both Disney and Ghiradelli to attend the opening.

The new date for the location to open is one week from today - Thursday, June 7 and DisneyExaminer might be attending a special grand opening ceremony the morning of opening day, so be sure to keep an eye right here on our main site and on our Facebook and Twitter Pages as we might be able to bring satisfaction to your sweet tooth sooner than later!

Go Cone-ing!
No, not THAT type of cone-ing. We mean the try-all-the-new-foods-at-the-Cozy-Cone- Motel-in-Cars-Land type of cone-ing!
If you didn’t know the Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land in the new re-imagined Disney California Adventure Park will host not a motel, but a series of food stands serving food in…you guessed it. Cones.
Disney today released the full cone offerings that will be served at the Motel and they include:
Cone #1: Churro bites with cinnamon-chocolate sauce, regular or cinnamon-spiced hot cocoa, and Ramone’s Pear of Dice Soda (desert pear and mojito flavorings topped with Sprite).
Cone #2: Soft-serve ice cream and “route” beer floats.
Cone #3: Breakfast features the bacon scrambled egg cone and scrambled egg verde cone. Lunch and dinner is chili “cone” queso and a chicken verde cone. Sip one of Filmore’s Fuelin’ Groovy Ades (all-natural lemonade with wild berry foam, or pomegranate limeade with lemon-lime foam).
Cone #4: Pretzel bites with cheesy sauce. To drink, Red’s Apple Freeze (100% frozen apple juice with Red’s special flavoring topped with a hint of toasted marshmallow flavor, and passion fruit-mango foam)
Cone #5: With two flavored popcorns daily, you might find salt and vinegar, pickle, bacon and cheddar, sweet and spicy or nacho cheese. Also serving Doc’s Wild Grape Tonic (Sprite with wild grape syrup and wild berry foam).
We’ll be sure to bring you all the food that will be served both in Cars Land AND Buena Vista Street when we attend a press event that happens on June 13, TWO DAYS BEFORE public opening!
So follow us NOW on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube now to make sure you get a sampling of what’s to come before you hit Cars Land and Buena Vista Street for your food fix!

It’s Soundsational to be a Disneyland Annual Passholder!

I think we must first disclose this before moving forward with this small segment - We are not advertising buying a Disneyland Annual Passport! We are simply wanting to share our experiences, particularly the awesome benefits that we get as Passholders (AP).

Including the awesome forthcoming AP events this summer, Disney has recently been treating their APs with awesome events just for them! I’m sure you’ve read our report on the latest AP event celebrating Fantasmic! 20th Anniversary, but before that, there was the Soundsational Parade.

On October 12, 2011, we were priviledged to attend a special AP-ONLY after-hour parade viewing of Disneyland’s latest parade - Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. Take a look at some of the pictures we took from the event above. Although the parade was great, the ability to roam around Disneyland with as little as 1,000 people was a great feeling.

Exclusivity, Special, Magical. Three words. One Passport.

These events are really what make having an Annual Passport worth while, but may come at a price for some as prices have raised.

And we’ll leave it at that.

Highway to Web
Cars Land is very important to Disney and us here at DisneyExaminer as you can see from our almost daily Cars Land-related posts.
If that isn’t enough for you all, Disney has created an official website dedicated to the whole Land. It includes some awesome pictures from inside the Land itself, as well as some cool interactive features and awesome music.
Take the website for a “test drive” yourself by clicking HERE (you’ll be redirected to Disneyland.com).
In addition, Disneyland.com also has a new website dedicated to all the Annual Passholder perks and special events, including the preview events for Cars Land and Buena Vista Street. All you APs out there - this is your one “pit stop” for everything.

“High Levels of Happiness”

As we approach the grand opening of the re-imagined Disney California Adventure on June 15, Disney as well as us here at DE want to get the word out! So marketing now steps in…

In addition to their new summer slogan (which is “The Happiest Place on Earth just got happier”), Disneyland’s marketing department has now released a series of ads involving “high levels of happiness.” How fitting!

See the second ad HERE.

We enjoy the content of the ads, but are sad to hear that it is not Tim Allen inside the Space Ranger suit…it’s ok. We’ll have those high levels of happiness when we cover the grand opening ceremonies and debuts of the new Disney California Adventure that include Cars Land and Buena Vista Street!

Be sure to follow us now on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and YouTube to ensure you see our coverage of the event which begins TWO DAYS BEFORE public opening on June 13!

Astronomical Anniversary

Take a look at the top photo above. Look familiar? Why yes, it should. It happens to be one of DisneyExaminer’s all-time favorite attractions at Disneyland and probably yours as well!

Today marks the 35th anniversary of Space Mountain in Tomorrowland in Disneyland Park. The photo was taken in 1976 as outer space was being enclosed in a building on earth by those awesome Walt Disney Imagineers. The attraction opened shortly after that shot was taken on this day in 1977.

We salute Space Mountain on her 35 years of terrifying guests and seasoned astronauts alike. Take a look at how some of the DisneyExaminer Staff feels after such an intergalactic adventure with some of our ride photos that follow from a special Annual Passholder-ONLY event earlier last year.

* * *

We also wanted to take some time to salute our brave men and women overseas, as well as here at home, who continue to serve and protect us daily. You all are a blessing and we thank God for your lives. We’ll have a “full” salute tomorrow, but we wanted to recognize you all today and say thanks.
