Got Fastpass?

Admit it. You were wondering around Disneyland one day and all of sudden you reach into your pocket and see a Fastpass you got earlier that day. You then realize that you passed the 1 hour window where you are to return and ride that attraction.

We have certainly been in this situation before but Disney Cast Members have been very relaxed when it came to when we returned and still let us ride even though that 1 hour window has passed.

Unfair, you say? There have been many guests including Annual Passholders alike that have been doing this for years! The reason this “loophole” has been used so long is because Cast Members have been so nice and know that Disneyland is much too fun for guests to follow a set schedule.

Well it is a sad day folks because those relaxed Fastpass days are OVER.

Disney has announced that they have told their attraction Cast Members to only let guests in to attractions that have valid Fastpasses and return within that 1 hour window. You’re 10 minutes late? Get in the back of the line (aka Standby).

Given the tremendous popularity of FastPass with our guests, in fairness to all we want to ensure we provide the same opportunity to everyone.

– Rick Sylvain, Disney spokesperson

No exceptions! …except…

There will always be, of course, exceptions to the rule, but it does mean guests will need to pay closer attention to posted return times when grabbing a (Fastpass) in the first place, as to not overlap times with dining reservations, parades, or anything else that might draw attention away from the desired attraction.

– Rick Sylvain, Disney spokesperson

Disney has decided to been gracious enough to say that each Cast Member at the Fastpass attractions will hear out special situations and let guests in after that 1 hour window has passed. Letting them ride will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.

So the “loophole” is now closed folks. We want to be fair too, but I’m sure another loophole will be uncovered and shared soon…
