As we first reported on earlier this week, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the grand opening date of the highly-anticipated land Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge early this morning at Disney’s 2019 Annual Meeting of Shareholders in St. Louis.
Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will open on May 31, 2019. Walt Disney World’s version will open on August 29, 2019.
A few things to note here:
1) Like the grand opening of Cars Land and the re-launch of DCA 2.0, Disneyland has decided to open its new land to kick-off their busy summer season.
2) If you thought Disneyland was busy during the summer, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
3) With the opening of something like Batuu/Star Wars Land, you can bet that the crowds aiming to be the first people into the land after its media and VIP previews the weeks before will be intense.
4) To counter those crowds and ruining the experience for all, Disneyland will use a ‘no-cost’ reservation system to access the land starting May 31 to June 23. How to get reservations is to be announced.
In short, if you want to see Galaxy’s Edge in an enjoyable form, it’s best to try and wait until after summer to enjoy it. After all, it’s a land. It isn’t going anywhere!
