Potatoes at the Parks

September is National Potato Month!  If you know me well, you’d know potatoes are one of absolute favorite foods. I love them in all different forms: mashed, roasted, baked, wedged, scalloped, waffled, curly, and even in tot form — I don’t discriminate. Here are some of the different ways you can enjoy a potato at Disneyland Park (DL) and Disney California Adventure (DCA).

In no particular order, let’s begin!

1. Mashed Potatoes — Flo’s V8 Cafe (DCA) and Plaza Inn (DL)

Let’s start off with the basics. You can never go wrong with mashed potatoes. They’re not only a crowd favorite during the holiday season, but they’re great and pair with almost anything all year round! The toddlers and babies love them too.

2. Chili Cheese Fries — Smokejumpers Grill (DCA) and The Golden Horseshoe (DL)

If you’re going to have a “cheat day,” you might as well go big or go home with chili cheese fries. They’re packed with ooey gooey, cheesy, and savory goodness. I’d recommend sharing this with a friend (or more) to lessen the guilt.

3. Sweet Potato Fries – Hungry Bear Restaurant (DL)

For those who want to go the slightly healthier route, sweet potatoes are your best bet.

4. Pommes Frites — Cafe Orleans (DL)

Seasoned fries are one of the ways to my heart. Here at Cafe Orleans, you can get fancy with these fries tossed with garlic, Parmesan cheese, and parsley along with a cajun spice rémoulade dipping sauce.

5. Stuffed Baked Potatoes — The Harbour Galley (DL)

When you’re looking for a meal that isn’t too heavy, but just enough to fill you up, baked potatoes are the way to go! Here at The Harbour Galley, you can choose from several kinds of baked potatoes that suit your appetite such as ones with BBQ chicken & slaw, bacon & sour cream, and the shrimp salad. The bacon & sour cream baked potato is my personal favorite.

6. Baked Potato Soup — Carnation Cafe (DL)

If you’re looking for a small bite to eat, a side of baked potato soup with bacon, cheddar, monterey jack cheese, sour cream, and chives at the Carnation Cafe is a great choice. It’s packed with flavor that won’t disappoint.

7. Tavern Nachos — Troubadour Tavern (DL)

These aren’t your ordinary nachos. They’re made with kettle cooked potato chips topped with bacon, cheese, sour cream, and green onions. Keep in mind that Troubadour Tavern closes a bit earlier than the rest of the dining locations in the park so I recommend that you grab some when you can and enjoy the live musical show, “Mickey and the Magical Map” while you’re at it.
