How to maneuver the 91 closure and get to Disneyland this weekend

As a Southern California resident, you have probably heard about the doomed weekend called “Coronageddon”. The 55-hour closure of the 91 freeway from the 71 to the 15 is set to take place this weekend from February 19th at 9 pm to February 22nd at 4 am.

If you’re not from California and you’re planning a trip to Disneyland this weekend, you should know we are very serious when it comes to traffic, so much so that closures require names. This closure even has an unoffical Twitter account, Coronamageddon.

If you want to venture out to have a magical weekend at Disney, there are alternate routes!

Option 1: 15 to 60 to 57

For those who live in Corona or neighboring cities, you can take streets in order to bypass the closure . You can take the 15 to the 60 to the 57.

Option 2: 10 to the 57

For those who live further inland, bypass the 91 and 15 altogether by taking the 10 to the 57.

Option 3: Metrolink

Metrolink is offering an extra service this weekend for the Inland Empire-Orange County line as well as a “2 for the price of 1” promotion where a person with a valid pass can bring another passenger for free on Saturday and Sunday.

If you decide to avoid Disneyland altogether, here are some Disney things you can do at home:

  • Having a Disney movie marathon (I mean who wouldn’t want to spend a whole weekend doing this?)
  • Craft DIY Disney attire such as adorable Mickey Ears, Bow Ties, or a Mermaid Blanket
  • Make a Disney playlist and jam all weekend
  • Play Disney themed board games

Just remember the wise words of Winnie the Pooh, “Home is the comfiest place to be.”
