New DuckTales series coming to Disney XD

In the spirit of reviving classic movies like “Maleficent“ and “Cinderella”, Disney has decided to take a turn towards nostalgic cartoons to bring us brand new episodes of the beloved children’s show “DuckTales”.

The original series, spanning from 1987 – 1990, introduced us to the world of Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Dewey, and Louie,  Donald Duck, and a host of other characters. Based on a comic series created by Carl Barks, “DuckTales” won prestigious awards and remains one of the most popular animated shows.

Mark Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager of Disney XD expressed hopes that this new series will be just as popular as its predecessor, saying, “DuckTales has a special place in Disney’s TV animation history, it drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks’ comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation.”

Disney has a knack for updating classic entertainment for a new audience, and perhaps this new “DuckTales” series brings us closer to adaptations of other childhood cartoons. Only time will tell which shows Disney will choose to re-introduce to future generations!

The “DuckTales” reboot is scheduled to be released in 2017.
