A bare necessity for any Disney fan [The Jungle Book Blu-Ray/DVD review]

Perhaps you saw The Jungle Book in theaters and wanted to know more about how Disney could make everything (literally everything) in the jungle, besides Mowgli, digital. Maybe you were planning to see the film but were having second thoughts.

The Jungle Book is now available on Blu-Ray/DVD, and whether you’d like to know more about the technology behind the movie, or are just planning to see the film for the first time, this set is definitely for you!

The film itself makes the Blu-Ray/DVD worth it – I, who had never seen the film in theaters, watched it with someone who had, and both of us agreed that the film definitely looks good on home T.V. screens. The Jungle Book is, overall, a great film, and would make a great addition to any Disney fans’ collection.

And if the movie itself weren’t enough to tempt you, the Blu-Ray/DVD editions also come with amazing special features that take you behind the scenes of The Jungle Book. Everything in movie besides Mowgli is actually completely digital, so it’s incredible to be able to learn more about how they made the film right after seeing it.

Special features on the DVD:

King Louie’s Temple: Layer by Layer – Watch King Louie’s scenes from varying steps in the creation process. You’ll see concept art, musical recording, and even footage of Christopher Walkens voice acting, all put together into a modern rendition of this classic Disney scene.

Additional special features on the Blu-Ray:

“The Jungle Book” Reimagined – This very long special feature takes viewers behind the scenes to find out how and why The Jungle Book was adapted into a live-action film. It connects this latest movie with Walt Disney’s passion for technological progress, and shows how the creators translated Mowgli and his friends into the digital world.

I Am Mowgli – In this feature you’ll learn more about Neel Sethi as Mowgli and how he was chosen for the role – you’ll even get to see parts of his audition tape! (And it’s hilarious when he starts talking about his loincloths as “diapers”).

Audio Commentary – with Director Jon Favreau.
